This very quiet road to the Col de la Madeleine runs through the little-known Bugeon Valley.
Description
Above Notre-Dame du Cruet, it passes in front of the chapel in Cuchet before reaching a viewpoint overlooking the ruined castle of the lords of La Chambre. For the return leg, go up to Saint-François-Longchamp, and then down the D213. Don’t forget to stop to admire the “fairy chimneys”, just below the road.
The road surface is good, and there is a moderate traffic in this area.
There are some fountains and restaurants in La Chambre and Saint-François-Lonchamp. The nearest bike repair shops are located in Saint-François-Longchamp and Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne.
There are also three bike racks behind the town hall.
At the Col de la Madeleine, there is an impressive point of view of Mont-Blanc.
