Perched on a rocky outcrop against the Massif des Bauges, this spectacular fortress overlooks the Combe de la Savoie. The breath-taking view from the top of the ramparts stretches from Mont Blanc to Vercours.
You are welcome to visit the simple garden.
Description
A fief of the Seigneurs de Miolans from 1080 to 1539, the Château was the prison for the Etat de la Maison de Savoie until 1792. The Marquis de Sade was famously imprisoned here. The Château de Miolans was a military masterpiece until the end of the 15th century; it is remarkably well-preserved and and now has a recently-restored inner garden. The Château offers breath-taking views from the top of its rampart, from Mont Blanc to Vercours.
