Avrieux's local heritage department is staging a unique exhibition on civilians and the Esseillon forts. What role did civilians play? How did they live in the presence of the army?
Description
Using photos, eyewitness accounts and other historical sources, this exhibition looks at the role of civilians around the forts from the 19th century to the present day. From the stories of local families to the stories of the bars, from the benefits of the military presence to the disillusions.
