Some charming little mountain roads

The Maurienne may have a reputation for its mythical Cols; however, there are some of the lesser-known mountains that are dotted across the valley that will surprise and delight you.

Among them, let us call them “classic” routes. Like the Mont Cenis pass on the border of Italy, which offers an exceptional panorama of the Mont Cenis lake.  The Grand Cucheron pass, located in the Belledonne massif offers a shaded and regular route. For 360 degree views of the majestic Aiguille d’Arves mountain range, climb the Col de la Confrérie and Col du Mollard.

Also to discover (but shhh it stays between us ok!). Routes much more “secret” and for the moment less frequented. Like the collar of Albanne, which leads to the lake of Pramol, a small and pretty lake bordered by the forest. The climb from Saint Michel up through the forest to Valmeinier or count the 14 switchbacks as you climb up to Valfrejus. The climb of Plan du lac with spectacular views of the Dent Parrachee mountain and glacier, which will certainly allow you to rub shoulders with marmots for a moment!

Now it’s up to you to come and explore these charming little mountain roads!
