Tour de France Men - Thursday 24/07
Stage 18, Vif > Courchevel Col de la Loze
Distance : 171 km
Type : Mountain stage
On July 24, the legendary Col de la Madeleine will be used by the peloton of the Grande Boucle for the Vif – Courchevel stage, also passing over the Col du Glandon.
During this high mountain stage, the cyclists will set off from Vif, near Grenoble, to tackle one of the most iconic Alpine climbs: the Col du Glandon. About an hour into the race, the peloton will enter the Oisans region in Isère (38), before crossing into Maurienne (Savoie, 73) to begin the ascent of the formidable Glandon. From there, they’ll continue towards the legendary Col de la Madeleine, above Saint-François-Longchamp.
Regarded as the most demanding mountain stage of this year’s edition, this day will be a key battleground for the yellow jersey contenders.
Spanning 171 km with a total elevation gain of 5,500 meters, the stage promises a spectacular show:
- Col du Glandon: 21.7 km at 5.1%
- Col de la Madeleine: 19.2 km at 7.9%
- Col de la Loze: 26.2 km at 6.5%
A brutal test for the legs — and a dream day for the true climbers!
