Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne

This road bike route climbs to Grand lac des Léchères. From here you can stop at the inn before heading back down. The surface is well groomed and the steep slopes offer a sporting challenge in a wild and authentic setting.

Description

Departing from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, this road bike itinerary offers a gradual immersion into the heart of the Savoyard mountains, combining demanding sport with unspoilt scenery. After a rolling valley exit to warm up, the route gradually rises on quiet secondary roads, ideal for finding your rhythm.
The climb then becomes steadier, with regular gradients of between 7 and 9%, punctuated by a few steeper sections requiring good effort management. Overall, the road surface is in good condition, suitable for sports riding, and traffic remains limited, enhancing the pleasure of riding. The switchbacks offer fine views of the surrounding peaks and alpine meadows.
The finish at Grand lac des Léchères, perched at around 1,690 m, is a fitting reward for the effort, with its peaceful atmosphere and remarkable natural setting, ideal for a contemplative break.
A demanding but accessible route for trained cyclists, perfect for combining performance, endurance and sightseeing in the heart of the Maurienne.
