Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne Photo gallery

The 18 small laces, clinging to the mountain, constitute one of the most spectacular roads in Savoie and a real challenge for cyclists. Nice panorama at the top.

Description

Leaving Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, the route reaches Hermillon then Pontamafrey before tackling the famous Montvernier lacets. Clinging to the mountain, these 18 tight bends offer an accessible but fun climb, much appreciated by cyclists for its regularity and spectacular layout. The panorama at the summit is well worth the effort.

The route then leads to the village of Le Châtel, dominated by the Tour Bérold de Saxe, which is open to visitors. The return journey is a smooth descent to Hermillon, before reaching Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne.

This is an itinerary for many cyclists, rich in landscapes and discoveries.
