Description

The first farmers and stockbreeders of the Neolithic period settled about 5,600 years ago in the Balmes cave overlooking Val Cenis-Sollières. The museum presents all the objects of the daily life of these first mountain dwellers of Haute Maurienne.
The objects and handicrafts on display in the museum plunge the visitor into the daily life of these mountain people, who had a relationship with their environment that went far beyond mere subsistence.

Period of opening

From 04/07 to 28/08/2026 from Monday to Friday between 2 pm and 6 pm.

From 29/08 to 18/09/2026 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 2 pm and 6 pm.

From 05/10 to 18/12/2026 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 2 pm and 6 pm.
Closed exceptionally on November 1st and November 11th.
