The Maurienne valley is full of bodies of water suitable for fishing or swimming. There are places where it is good to walk, to rest, or to cool off…
Here are some suggestions of bodies of water easily accessible from the major cycling starting points.
- Lac des Hurtières
Located at the foot of the Grand Cucheron pass, this lake deserves a stop with its lawns, sandy beach, and its supervised swimming area.
It is possible to tease the fish in the dedicated fishing area, to let off steam on the beach volleyball court, or to test your skill on the pétanque court.
A discovery path on the shores of the lake is accessible to learn about the flora and fauna of the site, classified as a “Natura 2000” site.
- The blue lake
Located in Saint-Rémy de Maurienne, the Blue Lake leisure area offers a very pleasant space for relaxation and walking, with areas for picnicking, a fitness trail, children’s games, a swimming area with a beach open during the summer (July-August), a fishing site, and a lake with a water jet 30 meters high.
- The Oudins lake
Located a stone’s throw from Saint-Jean de Maurienne in the town of Villargondran, the Oudins lake offers a pleasant swimming area, supervised in high season (July and August). Part of the lake is open to fishing.
- The Ludi’lacs space in Bessans
Between Val Cenis and Bonneval-sur-Arc is the Ludi’lacs space, a leisure complex offering a multitude of activities: swimming (supervised in July and August), inflatable floating play structures, canoe, stand up paddle, slack-line, pétanque, beach volleyball, barbecue, etc.
Another lake, located nearby, is a delight for fishing enthusiasts.
