The Maurienne Valley, a land of mountain biking in summer, and a training site in winter
The elite mountain bikers will be meeting in Bessans for a winter training camp.
The Maurienne Valley, in Savoie, continues to assert itself as the premier destination for cycling enthusiasts. This time, it will welcome the men’s and women’s French mountain bike teams for an intensive training camp from January 15 to 20, 2024. This exceptional collaboration between the French Cycling Federation (FFC) and the Maurienne Valley, (technical partner for years), testifies to the reputation of the mountain valley as an ideal home for cycling champions.
A privileged training location in the heart of Haute Maurienne
The La Bessannaise, holiday centre, nestled in the heart of the Nordic area in Bessans, will be the scene of this meeting. The partnership between the FFC and Maurienne, built over the years, underlines the prime position of this site for high-level training courses. Mountain biking professionals will be able to take advantage of the exceptional environment that Haute Maurienne offers: cross-country skiing, downhill skiing and other Nordic activities will be on the program. Exceptional athletes for a crucial training camp
The camp, scheduled from January 15 to 20, will bring together a small but exceptionally talented group, made up of three Elite athletes and three U23 athletes. Loana Lecomte, Jordan Sarrou, Thomas Griot, Luca Martin, Mathis Guay and Tatiana Tournut, representatives of excellence in the world of mountain biking, will be there. These champions are actively preparing for the 2024 season, with the Olympic Games in their sights. They will benefit from the advice and the program prepared by Yvan Clolus, talented manager of the French teams for several years.
An impressive track record for this group of elite Mountain bikers
The athletes present at this important training camp have a remarkable track record.
Loana Lecomte, 2nd at the World Champion in 2023 behind Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, but also European Champion 2023 and winner of several World Cups, embodies the next generation of French mountain bikers.
Jordan Sarrou, winner of a World Cup round in 2023 and 2020 Cross-Country World Champion, brings all his experience to the group.
Thomas Griot, present on the podium in the World Cup, is a major asset in the Elite category.
As for the hopeful athletes, Luca Martin, junior world champion; Mathis Guay and Tatiana Tournut, junior world champion in relay, reveal exceptional potential, promising remarkable performances on the international scene.
We will perhaps have the pleasure of welcoming Maurienne Line Burquier, the Haute-Savoie silver medalist in 2023 in Glasgow.
All eyes are on Olympic Gold
This early season intensive camp will form a critical foundation in preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games, the Elite and U23 World Championships in Vallnord, the European Championships in Romania, and all the World Cup stages from April to October.
