Maurienne Valley Summer

There’s always a cycling event happening in Maurienne…

Retrospective – Summer 2025

The summer of 2025 was truly exceptional for cycling enthusiasts in the Maurienne Valley! Between iconic events, Tour de France stages, legendary climbs, and mountain biking gatherings, the valley experienced a season packed with emotion and energy.

When the Tour de France passed through Maurienne once again, the region thrilled to the excitement of Stage 18 — won by Ben O’Connor. The Australian rider shone on the Alpine slopes before Tadej Pogačar claimed the overall victory, confirming his dominance over the world peloton.

A few days later, the Tour de France Femmes delivered another highlight: Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, who knows the Maurienne’s MTB trails and roads well, became the first Frenchwoman to win the event — a powerful symbol for women’s cycling and all those who dream of mountains and performance.

The season was also shaped by major road and mountain biking events:

  • La Galibier Challenge in June, with demanding yet spectacular routes;
  • La Transmaurienne Vanoise in July, bringing together pros, families, and leisure riders around mountain biking in the majestic landscapes of Haute Maurienne Vanoise;
  • L’Enduro du Jeu in Val Cenis in September, closing the summer in a friendly, festive atmosphere.

Throughout the summer, the Mountain Collection – car-free climb days – once again drew crowds: friendly, non-competitive gatherings that allow cyclists to conquer legendary passes like the Galibier, Madeleine, Glandon, or Croix de Fer in total safety. A unique way to (re)discover the Alps, surrounded by peace, scenery, and fresh mountain air.

Looking ahead to Summer 2026

After such a remarkable 2025 season, the desire to return to Maurienne by bike in 2026 is stronger than ever!
On the program: new editions of the must-attend events like the Transmaurienne Vanoise (July 12–18, 2026) and the Orelle Challenge (late June), more car-free climbs across the valley, and, as always… the warm and welcoming Alpine atmosphere.

Whether you’re a fan of legendary passes, long-distance rides, thrilling descents, or more leisurely outings, the Maurienne remains the ultimate cycling destination — authentic, sporty, and open to all styles of riders.
